PhD position in Computer Science at University of Neuchatel We invite applications for a funded PhD research position in Computer Science at the University of Neuchatel. This position is in the context of a collaboration project with several other Swiss universities on trustworthy cloud storage. The Computer Science Department at the University of Neuchatel is a friendly and motivating work environment, in a beautiful setting and with competitive hiring conditions. The dependable and distributed systems group participates to several European and Swiss projects, notably the SRT-15 on cloud computing (http://www.srt-15.eu/) and the Splay project (http://www.splay-project.org/) distributed systems evaluation. The position is funded for a 3-year duration. Applicants must have a Masters degree in Computer Science (or equivalent), very good knowledge of English, and strong team-working abilities. Candidates with strong programming skills and prior knowledge/education in distributed systems, networking, dependability, symbolic execution or cloud computing in general are particularly encouraged to apply. Context of the project and PhD work description: The goal of the joint project is to create an open and trustworthy cloud storage system that simultaneously addresses security, verifiability and robustness. The specific contribution of the PhD student to the project is on the provision of the decentralized cloud middleware on top of which the trustworthy cloud storage will be built and deployed. In particular, the PhD student will work on the following aspects: infrastructure integration and verification (including performance profiling mechanisms, service validation, querying services profiling), deployment tools and services, and storage mechanisms. The PhD student will work in cooperation with another PhD student and will be advised by two faculty members, in addition to participating to the project meetings and discussions.
